How often should an office be cleaned?
A simple frequency guide based on footfall, washrooms, kitchens, and the standard you want to maintain.
Most offices don't need a complicated answer. The right cleaning frequency comes down to three things: how many people use the space, how heavily washrooms and kitchens are used, and how client-facing the office is.
Typical cleaning frequencies
- 1–2 visits per week: small teams, low footfall, minimal client visits.
- 3 visits per week: the most common starting point for a busy office.
- 5 visits per week (Mon–Fri): higher headcount, heavy kitchen/washroom usage, or a very client-facing environment.
What drives frequency the most
1) Washrooms
If washrooms are used heavily, daily cleaning is often the right call. It's the quickest area to slip from “fine” to “unacceptable”.
2) Kitchens and break areas
Kitchens are where odours and hygiene issues start. More people using the kitchen usually means you need more frequent visits.
3) Entrances and high-traffic routes
Entrance mats, corridors, and stairwells show dirt quickly. If you want the office to look professional every day, these areas need regular attention.
A simple rule of thumb
If your office has regular client visits, aim for at least 3 visits per week. If it's a larger team or washrooms/kitchens are busy, move to 5. If it's quieter, reduce frequency and add periodic deep cleaning.
